Five Tips for Using Social Media to Promote Curbside Pickup

Many retailers have started curbside pickup so customers can shop the products they love while staying safe. With dozens of businesses promoting their items online, how can you make your curbside pickup posts stand out? Here are our five full-proof tips to accomplish just that!

Let Your Customers Shop Your Store Virtually

It is harder for customers to casually shop around nowadays, making walk-through videos a must on your social media. Film from your point of view while slowly panning through different sections of the store – even zoom in on some products and their prices.

Have a large bin of headbands that come in a variety of styles? A pile of cute stickers? Record yourself going through those items. The key is to encourage customers to shop and stick around for more curbside posts.

Take Videos Trying on the Products

One downside of curbside pickup is the inability to try on products before purchasing them. To help out, include videos of different employees trying on items for styling and sizing inspiration.

Fun tip: Film and cut together several try-on videos to make an IGTV or a short video series on your Instagram story for a “Curbside Try-On” highlight.

Include High Quality Photos of Your Inventory

Your customers won’t be inclined to buy any of your beautiful items if your promotional images are dull and blurry. When taking photos, place the product on a solid, contrasting background; if your product is bright and colorful, put it against a dark background (and vice versa).

Create a Template for Each Social Media Post

No matter how big or small your business is, you probably have a lot of inventory that needs social media screen time. To make producing curbside pickup posts easier, create a Canva template that includes the following features:

  • High quality photo of the product

  • Price

  • Name of the product

  • “Available for curbside pickup”

  • Your business logo

To create a new social media post, all you have to do is swap the product image, price, and name. Now, you can make a dozen curbside pickup posts in minutes – all while informing your customers and giving your social media page a consistent look.

Write Eye-Catching and Informative Captions

Write a catchy curbside caption that’ll grab customer’s attention and encourage them to read more. Try getting creative by adding a few emojis that align with the product or your business’ brand too.

If possible, include the product’s style number or a call to action that encourages users to call your business for more information on the product.
