Do's and Don'ts of Holiday Social Media Posting

During the holidays, businesses are glued to their computers to check which competitors have the best reviews. But, this time of year is when your clients are constantly on the web too.

To help out this holiday season, Social Stamina compiled a list of our "Holiday Do’s and Don'ts" on social media.

DO Be Genuine With Your Holiday Posts

As a seller, it can be easy to hear the word “holidays” and immediately think about “revenue.” However, this is a time when clients focus on loved ones and giving back. It is more beneficial to promote a meaningful message to increase the support of your brand instead.

Think carefully about a story you can share that gives insight into the positive aspects of your company. Doing so will encourage clients to share their stories about helping others too. The new year is also a great time to thank your loyal clients – both old and new – to acknowledge their contributions

Fun tip: Ask clients to share their favorite holiday gift and why. Introspective questions lead to more genuine interactions with your clients.

DON’T Forget to Update Holiday Social Posts

Make sure to stay on top of your scheduled posts. Switch up the format of your holiday posts to keep your content fresh and up to date. Creating different content for holidays shows users you don't just spew out careless posts.

Whip out those calendars and set reminders to either send or archive posts if need be. It’s critical to organize important dates so you do not miss out on any holidays and stay relevant.

DO Prepare Your Holiday Posts

Competition is at its peak during the holiday season so, you must prepare your content ahead of time. Have your December posts designed and scheduled before the month even begins. This planning helps eliminate some stress during a trying time of year while also prioritizing your audience.

DON’T Disregard Your Clients

Make time to communicate with your clients, as your social media presence makes up for the lack of face-to-face connection. Because of this, these client interactions should be conversational. Ask insightful questions, discuss the reasoning behind answers, share relatable stories, and alleviate their concerns.

DO Maintain a Branded Theme With Your Holiday Social Media Posts

Although holidays tend to follow specific color themes, try sticking to your individual brand. Ignite Social Media explains: “Make sure that any holiday content you produce has a clear focus and benefit for your followers (save the generic well-wishes for your own personal holiday cards).” Your content should stand out from the next, so make sure you design it to represent your audience.

DON’T Overdo Your Holiday Themed Social Media Posts

Quality over quantity. Before posting, stop and consider why. If you struggle to answer this question, odds are it isn't significant enough to post.

Also, be careful when posting celebratory holiday party pictures. Your content should always lead back to your brand or the product in mind. Don't focus so much on being cookie-cutter-perfect – focus on being authentic.
