2024 Social Media Rule Book for Realtors
When it comes to real estate on social media, the content train continues to run nonstop. With so much pressure to post, it can be easy to find yourself trapped in the "copy, paste, and post" cycle.
At Social Stamina, we have our trusty Realty Social Media Rule Book with five ABSOLUTE MUSTS for your social media management this year.
Do Not Post Photos of Checks on Your Social Media!
Naturally, when your client makes a purchase, you want to celebrate. You might quickly snap a picture with the check featuring your new sale without thinking about all of the sensitive information you are displaying to the public. That one picture now exposed your client's name, address, and phone number. Even the banking information, like your routing number or account number, is visible. It is best to avoid posting pictures like this entirely and use snippets of the happy home buyers or new homes instead!
Do Not Post Photos of License Plates!
Don’t fall victim to “it can’t happen to me” syndrome – make sure to hide those license plates! When you share a license plate online, you give users the ability to (legally or illegally) retrieve information about the car owner. Posting a picture of a house online that may include their car easily links a driver to its home address as well. Now, people can identify when they are or are not home or seek out more information about the car owner.
If you take a picture and a license plate is visible, blur it out or place your company logo over it. Our content creation team at Social Stamina can help with that!
DO NOT Forget About Video!
We know saving money is ideal, but you shouldn't miss out on shooting and editing videos. Video is SO crucial to implement within your online marketing strategy. According to HubSpot, 45% of users watch more than an hour of video a week on Facebook or YouTube.
Homebuyers thrive off visuals. Create a clean-cut video to help build that emotional connection to your potential client. YouTube videos can also improve your website's ranking in search engines – a place where many homebuyers start their search.
Do NOT Screenshot Facebook Pictures and Use Them for Instagram!
Use relatable realtor content you encounter as inspiration for your online brand. Find a way to make the post your own by focusing on what aspects highlight your specific company.
You may find reposting their work acceptable if credited, but it can come off as careless or uninviting. Followers want to see what you are posting and what you are capable of achieving. Not sharing original content can steer traffic away from your social media accounts and toward competitors.
Something else worth mentioning: try not to take screenshots of open house photos from your company Facebook page to then repost it on Instagram. Instead, share your own image of the open house and link the company post in your caption. The last thing you want is to diminish your individual brand!
This actually leads us to our last rule...
Stay on Brand On ALL of Your Social Media Accounts!
The most important questions to ask any professional: How do you want the world to see you? What do you want your BRAND to be? Is that brand then consistent on your social media?
When people visit your page, you want them to recognize your brand and you. What makes you the person I should come to for help when purchasing my next home? Your posts should be consistent and embody the same story.
